If you have questions or issues, or just want to vent to those who understand, or you're a experienced technical communicator who might have lots of advice to offer others, you should plan to join us on May 6th at the East Columbia branch of the Howard County Public Libraries for a lively discussion on anything work related that's bothering you and we'll try to help.
Not a member? Thinking about joining? Guests are always welcome at our functions so feel free to bring a co-worker, friend, or colleague.

Have you ever wanted to learn more about digital photography?
Have you ever wanted to learn to take better digital photographs?
If this is something you want to learn more about, you should plan to join us on March 11th at the White Marsh branch of the Baltimore County Public Libraries for a presentation and discussion on digital photography. Our guest speaker Jack Douglas will present an overview of digital photography, how it works, how it differs from film, and some basics of use and producing better images. He will talk about the importance of the digital darkroom for editing, repairing and restoring old printed photographs, film, and slides (Photoshop–like editing programs), storing and preserving photographs, and digital photography printing issues. Q & A will follow the presentation.

2009 Networking Event - October 13th

Where: Dave & Buster's at Arundel Mills Mall
Price: $20 for MBSTC members, $23 for non-members and walk-ins
Meet us at Dave and Buster's for a lively evening of hors d'oeuvres, games, and networking. We will begin our evening in the Midway Party Room with Dave and Buster's fabulous Signature Starters Appetizer Buffet (see below). Each attendee will also receive a $10 power play card to use out in the games area on a wide variety of games. At 7:30, we will re-group for an interactive networking discussion. At the end of the evening, we will award door prizes. Be sure to mark your calendars for this popular event!

MBSTC Town Hall Meeting - July 7, 2009
As many of you have noticed, we have not been active for the first half of this year. We would like to remedy this with a Town Hall Meeting. This will be an evening to discuss the following issues:
The state of the STC organization
Our Chapter
Ideas for meetings
Volunteers to help organize meetings
Volunteers to write articles and update website
Open mike discussion of issues
We will be ordering Papa John pizza. Choices include: The Meats, Cheese, Garden Fresh, and The Works. Cookies and soft drinks will be included.

December MBSTC Meeting Adobe Photoshop for Writers

In this day and age, we can no longer be simply called Technical Writers. We wear many hats, from editor to illustrator. The world is changing and technology is making it easier for us to become Technical Publication Experts. Adobe Photoshop is the graphics design tool for bringing out the best in your digital images and transforming them into anything you can imagine. Graphics Expert, Sam Gallina will show us how to use Photoshop to bring out the best in our artwork. We will discuss tips and tricks, as well as an overview of a few helpful processes. Join us for an evening of useful tips and tricks that will not only help you at work, but help you edit your digital photos from your family, friends, pets, or latest vacation.
